Brand guardianship for luxury brands
For businesses that have invested in their brand and want every new page, print run and package to keep the standard set at launch.
BRAND GUARDIANSHIP
Most brands are at their best on the day they launch. Brand guardianship keeps yours there. BCLR stays alongside your business after launch, overseeing your website, print, packaging and guidelines, so every new piece meets the new standard the brand was built to.
Brand guardianship, explained
Brand guardianship, sometimes called brand stewardship, is the ongoing care of a brand after launch. Instead of commissioning design project by project, a business retains a studio to oversee everything the brand produces, so the standard is held by the studio that built or knows it.
For you, it means never having to police the brand yourself. New pages, brochures, packaging runs and social posts are reviewed or designed by people who know your brand intimately, suppliers are briefed properly, and small inconsistencies are corrected long before a client could notice them.
BCLR is a luxury branding studio serving London and the UK. Every BCLR project is led by our founders and Creative Directors, Beth Clawson and Leon Reeve, who are present at every private consultation. Guardianship is arranged as a retainer, scoped to how much your brand produces and agreed in writing. Read our guide to brand guardianship.
Luxury Packaging Design questions
-
A brand guardian takes responsibility for how a brand is applied after launch. That means reviewing new work, designing what is needed, keeping guidelines current and briefing suppliers, so the brand stays consistent wherever it appears and the value it has built is protected rather than slowly worn down.
-
Yes. Brand guardianship and brand stewardship describe the same discipline: the long-term care of a brand’s consistency and value after launch. BCLR calls it brand guardianship, because the role is protective as much as creative, and a guardian answers for the standard rather than simply advising on it.
-
Brand equity is the value clients attach to your name and the way you present it, and it is protected by consistency. Every piece that meets the standard reinforces it, and every piece that falls short wears it down. Guardianship makes consistency someone’s responsibility.
-
Every brand guardianship retainer is bespoke, scoped to how much your brand produces in a year, from website updates to print and packaging runs. We begin with a private consultation and a brand review, then set out scope and investment in writing before the retainer begins, so there are no surprises.
-
No. BCLR can take on the care of an existing brand, whoever designed it. We begin with a review of where the brand stands today, what has drifted and what needs to be restored, then agree how it will be looked after, working within your identity rather than replacing it.
-
Yes. Brand guardianship can include your website: hosting, security, updates and new pages, with search performance watched through Google Search Console. The site is cared for by the same studio that oversees the rest of your brand, so it keeps both its standard and its visibility long after launch.
-
As a continuing retainer, scoped to how much your brand produces and agreed in writing before it begins. The scope is reviewed together regularly, so the care always matches what the brand needs, whether that is a quiet year of updates or a busy one of launches, openings and new ranges.
-
At launch, when the standard is easiest to hold, or whenever a brand is being applied by more people than anyone can check. Opening new sites, adding ranges and changing suppliers are common moments. The sooner guardianship begins, the less there is to restore and the more of the original investment is protected.
-
A full brand review, then an agreed list of priorities: correcting what has drifted, updating guidelines and briefing suppliers. After that, new work is designed or reviewed as it is needed, and the scope is revisited together as the brand grows.
-
Businesses whose brand is applied by many hands, across several sites, suppliers or in-house teams, and founders who have invested in a brand and want it held to that standard without overseeing every piece themselves. In both cases, the brand has become too valuable to be left to chance.
-
With a private consultation: an unhurried conversation about your business and what your brand needs from here, and a chance for us both to decide whether BCLR is the right fit. If it is, we follow with a written proposal setting out scope, investment and timeline. Request a private consultation.
